Hiroshima–Nagasaki Remembrance Day Quiz Competition: Inspiring Peace Through Knowledge
Date: 06 August 2025
Time: 3.00 p.m.
Venue: Assembly Hall, Jesus Training College, Mala
In commemoration of the 80th Hiroshima–Nagasaki Remembrance Day, the Social Science Club of Jesus Training College, Mala, under the initiative of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a Quiz Competition on 6 August 2025 at 3.00 p.m. in the College Assembly Hall.
The programme was conceived to honour the memory of the victims of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and to create awareness among student teachers about the devastating consequences of war and the enduring importance of peace, humanity, and global cooperation. As the world marked eight decades since one of history's most tragic events, the competition encouraged participants to reflect on the lessons of the past and the collective responsibility to build a peaceful future.
The quiz featured thought-provoking questions covering the historical background of World War II, the atomic bombings, international peace initiatives, nuclear disarmament, the United Nations, and contemporary efforts towards global harmony. Students actively participated with enthusiasm, demonstrating not only their historical knowledge but also their awareness of current global issues related to peace and conflict resolution.
The event served as an enriching educational experience, fostering critical thinking, historical understanding, and a sense of social responsibility among future educators. It also reinforced the role of education in promoting values of tolerance, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.
The Social Science Club and IQAC sincerely appreciated the wholehearted participation of the students and the support extended by the college management and faculty members in making the programme meaningful and successful. Through initiatives such as these, Jesus Training College, Mala continues to nurture socially conscious, informed, and responsible teachers committed to the ideals of peace, justice, and human dignity.
