Four-Day Community Living Camp – Learning Beyond the Classroom

Jesus Training College, Mala, organized a Four-Day Community Living Camp from 27 to 30 August 2025 as part of its teacher education programme. The camp was designed to provide student teachers with experiential learning opportunities that foster leadership, cooperation, self-reliance, and community engagement.

Throughout the four-day programme, students actively participated in a variety of activities including group discussions, community service, cultural programmes, team-building games, and reflective sessions. Living together in a shared environment enabled participants to develop interpersonal skills, mutual respect, and a strong sense of responsibility.

The camp encouraged students to step beyond the traditional classroom setting and experience collaborative learning in a practical context. It also promoted values such as discipline, empathy, environmental awareness, and social commitment, which are essential qualities for future educators.

The Community Living Camp concluded with memorable experiences and strengthened friendships, leaving participants with valuable life lessons and a deeper understanding of teamwork, leadership, and community living.
