Jesus Training College, Mala, came alive with the vibrant spirit of Kerala’s most cherished festival as it hosted Onam 2026 on 20 August 2026 at the JTC Courtyard. The celebration beautifully brought together students and faculty in an atmosphere filled with joy, unity and festive warmth.

The programme commenced with the welcome address by Bibitha K. B., followed by the presidential address delivered by Father Vinish V. Vattoly. The celebrations were formally inaugurated by Dr. Rages John, Principal, marking the beginning of a day filled with cultural splendour and festive enthusiasm.

The spirit of Onam was further enriched by the Onam message delivered by Ripsy Rojus, highlighting the values of harmony, prosperity and togetherness that lie at the heart of the festival. Greetings were also extended by Ebin Joseph, adding to the warmth and significance of the occasion.

The celebration came alive with a vibrant array of cultural programmes and traditional Onam games. The campus echoed with laughter, excitement and enthusiasm as students came together to celebrate Kerala’s rich cultural heritage beyond the boundaries of the classroom. Traditional activities, including Onakkalikal and the spirited Vadamvali, added colour and energy to the festivities.

A major highlight of the celebration was the traditional Onasadya, where students and faculty gathered together to share a festive feast. Beyond being a sumptuous meal, the sadya beautifully reflected the true spirit of Onam—sharing, equality, harmony and togetherness.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Athira V. R., Student Representative, followed by the remaining cultural activities and festive celebrations.

Jesus Training College, Mala, marked a special occasion with the name reveal ceremony of the Onam celebration 2026. The event was officially inaugurated by the Principal, Dr. Rages John, who unveiled the name of this year’s Onam program.

The ceremony added a festive charm to the campus, marking the beginning of the much-awaited Onam celebrations. With beautiful decorations, traditional elements, and the essence of Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, the event reflected the joy, unity, and harmony that Onam brings.

The Onam celebration is scheduled to be held on 20th August 2026 from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm at the JTC Courtyard. The program promises a memorable experience filled with cultural performances, celebrations, and moments of togetherness for the entire college community.

The name reveal ceremony marked the first step towards a grand celebration, bringing everyone together in the true spirit of Onam — happiness, unity, and the celebration of tradition.

Jesus Training College, Mala, celebrated the Feast Day of Sister Leena on 15th August with warmth and joy. The occasion brought together the college community in a spirit of gratitude, happiness, and togetherness.

The celebration was later observed formally during the college assembly on Monday, 17th August, where the occasion was commemorated with great enthusiasm and affection.

The celebration became a memorable moment for the college community, reflecting the values of love, gratitude, unity, and shared happiness.

Swathanthra 2026: Honouring Freedom, Inspiring the Future

Jesus Training College, Mala celebrated the 80th Independence Day Celebration – Swathanthra 2026 with great patriotic enthusiasm. The programme was organized by Sociora – The Social Science Club, under the Social Science Department, in association with IQAC on 13 August 2026.

The celebration featured various programmes including patriotic dance, speech competition, quiz competition, and patriotic song. The speech competition focused on “Freedom and Democracy”, while the quiz competition highlighted India’s freedom struggle from 1857 to 1947.

The programme was graced by the presence of Dr. Rages John, Principal, who delivered the keynote address. Mr. Faimen Paul felicitated the gathering, and certificates were distributed by Fr. Vinish V.V., Executive Director.

An Intercollegiate Online Poster Making Competition was also conducted by Sociora – The Social Science Club. The winners were:

-  First Prize: Hiba TP – Jamia Nadawiyya Training College, Edavanna

-  Second Prize: Sandra Chandran – JPE Training College, Koorkenchery

-  Third Prize: Fidha Mol M – MCT Training College, Malappuram

Following this, the Independence Day celebration was held on 15 August 2026 at Jesus Training College, Mala. The celebration began with the flag hoisting ceremony, marking a proud tribute to the nation and honouring the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. The gathering joined together in celebrating the spirit of patriotism, unity, and national pride.

The celebrations served as a reminder of our responsibility to uphold the values of freedom, democracy, and togetherness as we move towards a brighter future.

“Remembering the past, inspiring peace for the future.”

Jesus Training College, Mala, observed Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day on 6th August at the College Auditorium. The programme was organized by the Department of Social Science as a meaningful reminder of the devastating consequences of war and the importance of peace.

The session featured a presentation by Ms. Anagha P. R., who shed light on the history and human impact of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. A video was also screened as part of the programme, helping students reflect more deeply on the tragedy and its lasting consequences.

The observance served as a powerful reminder that peace is not merely an ideal but a shared responsibility. It encouraged students to remember the past, value humanity, and work towards a peaceful and better future.

The IQAC of Jesus Training College, Mala organized Orientim '26, the Student Induction Program, on 29 July 2026 at 9:30 AM in the College Auditorium. The session was led by Dr. Rages John, Principal, Jesus Training College, Mala, who spoke on the inspiring topic, "On Your Mark: The Springboard of Professional Teaching." Through his motivating talk, he encouraged student teachers to embrace the teaching profession with dedication, confidence, and a commitment to lifelong learning. He highlighted the qualities of an effective teacher and inspired students to view every learning opportunity as a step toward becoming responsible and compassionate educators. Also, sir introduced college academic calendar and handbook to the students.

 Jesus Training College, Mala celebrated a significant milestone with Convocation 2026, honouring the graduating B.Ed. 2024–2026 Batch.

The convocation was held on Thursday, 30 July 2026, at the College Auditorium. The programme began with registration at 9:00 AM, followed by the Academic Procession at 10:00 AM.

The ceremony marked the culmination of the students’ dedicated journey in teacher education and celebrated their transition from aspiring educators to future teachers ready to inspire and empower the next generation.

With the inspiring theme “Empowering Educators, Inspiring Generation,” Convocation 2026 was a celebration of academic achievement, perseverance, and the noble profession of teaching.

The occasion beautifully marked the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates, as they stepped forward with knowledge, confidence, and a commitment to shaping the future through education.

The Teacher Within: Awakening the Educator Beyond the Classroom "The most powerful lessons begin with self-discovery, for an inspired teacher first transforms oneself before transforming others. "The afternoon session of Day 2 of Orientim'26 featured an inspiring address by Dr. V. C. Binoj, Assistant Professor in Psychology, MOTC, Perumpilavu, Thrissur, on the thought-provoking theme "The Teacher Within. "Designed as an engaging and reflective experience, the session encouraged participants to step beyond their comfort zones and embark on a journey of self-exploration. Through interactive discussions and meaningful activities, students gained insights into the influence of the conscious and subconscious mind in shaping thoughts, behaviour, and professional identity. Dr. Binoj emphasized that exceptional educators are distinguished not only by their knowledge but also by qualities such as curiosity, empathy, emotional intelligence, resilience, self-awareness, and purpose. The session inspired future teachers to cultivate these attributes, empowering them to become compassionate mentors and lifelong learners.

The session concluded with a powerful message: the finest teacher is not merely found in textbooks or classrooms, but within every individual who dares to learn, evolve, and inspire.

The morning session of Day 2 of Orientim '26 – Student Induction Program 2026 at Jesus Training College, Mala was an energetic celebration of innovation in education. The session, led by Rev. Dr. Binoy Thomas N., Associate Professor and Research Coordinator, Sahrdaya Institute of Management Studies (SIMS), Thrissur, revolved around the theme "Gamification & Active Learning in Action."

Breaking away from conventional teaching methods, the session immersed participants in engaging games, collaborative challenges, and experiential activities that transformed learning into an enjoyable journey. Every activity encouraged communication, teamwork, and critical thinking while strengthening bonds among the student teachers.

Reflecting the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP), the resource person emphasized that the educators of tomorrow must be adaptive, technologically proficient, and innovation driven. He highlighted the growing significance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and encouraged future teachers to integrate modern tools with learner-centred pedagogies to create dynamic and inclusive classrooms.

The session concluded with an inspiring reminder that effective teaching is not about delivering information—it is about igniting curiosity, inspiring participation, and making learning unforgettable.

 Every new beginning marks the start of endless possibilities. Embracing this spirit, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Jesus Training College, Mala organised ORIENTIM–26: Student Induction Programme 2026 on 27 July 2026, from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM in the College Auditorium. Designed to ease students into college life, the programme fostered confidence, collaboration, and a sense of belonging among the newcomers.

The resource session was led by Mr. Sherin Kalathil, CEO, Director, and Corporate Trainer, on the theme "Breaking Barriers, Building Teams." The programme centred on instilling the Five Ps—Perspective, Participation, Pace, Partnership, and Pulse qualities essential for personal growth, teamwork, and leadership. These values were brought to life through a series of engaging, activity-based sessions where students were divided into groups, ensuring the active involvement and inclusion of every participant.

More than an orientation, ORIENTIM–26 became a vibrant platform for building meaningful connections, encouraging self-discovery, and inspiring students to embrace challenges with confidence. The programme concluded on an uplifting note, leaving every participant motivated to begin their academic journey with purpose, unity, and a commitment to creating a positive impact within the college community.

With profound patriotism and gratitude, the AGORA Social Science Club of Jesus Training College, Mala commemorated Kargil Vijay Diwas on 27 July 2026 at 9:20 AM in the Assembly Hall. The programme honoured the unmatched courage and supreme sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces during the Kargil War of 1999. Observed every year on 26 July, Kargil Vijay Diwas marks India's historic victory in Operation Vijay, through which the Indian Army successfully recaptured strategic peaks in the Kargil sector from enemy intruders after weeks of intense combat. The day stands as a lasting tribute to the bravery, resilience, and unwavering dedication of the soldiers who defended the nation's sovereignty.

The event featured an inspiring address by Ms. Athira K. M., First Year Social Science, who reflected on the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the timeless values of patriotism, courage, and selfless service. The programme served as a solemn reminder that the legacy of our immortal martyrs continues to inspire generations, fostering a deep sense of national pride and gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.

Numbers came alive at Jesus Training College, Mala as the institution celebrated World Pi Approximation Day on 23 July 2026 at 9:15 AM in the College Auditorium. Commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi) and its enduring significance, the event highlighted the importance of the famous approximation 22/7 and the remarkable role of π in geometry, engineering, architecture, astronomy, physics, and modern technology. The keynote address by Ms. Sandra Krishna offered inspiring insights into how π serves as a universal language connecting mathematics with the natural world and scientific innovation. The programme concluded successfully, reaffirming the institution's commitment to academic excellence and fostering a deeper appreciation for the elegance and relevance of mathematics.

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Jesus Training College, Mala, organized a Faculty Development Programme on "Strategic Planning for the Academic Year 2026–2027" on 27 June 2026 from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM in the IQAC Room. The programme was conducted to equip faculty members with effective planning strategies for achieving academic excellence and institutional growth.

The session was led by Prof. Harry Cleteus, Former Principal of St. Albert's College, Ernakulam, who served as the resource person. Drawing upon his extensive experience in higher education administration, he shared valuable insights into strategic planning, institutional leadership, and quality enhancement practices.

The programme focused on developing a comprehensive roadmap for the academic year by aligning institutional goals with teaching, research, extension activities, student support services, and quality assurance initiatives. Faculty members actively participated in discussions on academic planning, outcome-based education, innovative teaching methodologies, research promotion, and continuous evaluation.

The Literary Club of Jesus Training College, Mala, organized a Spot Quiz Competition in connection with World Reading Day on 22 June 2026 in the Assembly Hall. The programme aimed to promote reading habits among students and to celebrate the transformative power of books and literature.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation, with two students representing each optional subject. The quiz featured a wide range of general questions related to Reading Day, renowned authors, literary works, libraries, reading movements, and the importance of cultivating a lifelong reading habit.

Participants demonstrated impressive knowledge, quick thinking, and teamwork as they competed in an atmosphere of healthy academic competition. The event encouraged students to broaden their reading interests and appreciate literature as a source of knowledge, creativity, and personal growth.

The programme also highlighted the significance of reading in developing critical thinking, communication skills, imagination, and lifelong learning—qualities that are especially important for future educators. The prestigious institution—NAAC Accredited with B++, ISO certified, and holding the 22nd Rank in KIRF—is proudly hosting its Community Living Camp.

The 4-day camp is scheduled to take place from June 04 to June 07, 2026, promising an enriching experience centred around collaboration, leadership, and shared responsibility.

 Setting the Vision:  Student Camp Coordinator Nevis Augustin took the stage for the Camp Theme Introduction, outlining the core values and objectives of this 4-day journey.

 Leadership Insights: The ceremony was elevated by a Presidential Address from Rev. Fr. Vineesh V Vattoly (Executive Director, JTC Mala) and an Inaugural Address by Ms. Jayashree Sudheesh. Dr. Rages John (Principal, JTC Mala) followed with an inspiring Principal Address to motivate the campers.

Commitment to the Community: Camp Leader Ripsy Rojas led the students in a meaningful Camp Pledge, locking in their commitment to camaraderie and personal growth.

The programme began with a prayer, invoking God's blessings on the gathering. This was followed by the welcome address delivered by Mr. Saiju P. J., Vice President, who warmly welcomed the distinguished guests, alumni, and participants. Mrs. Amala Jose, Secretary, presented the annual report, highlighting the activities and achievements of the alumni association over the past year. Dr. Manoj A. L., President, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the vital role of alumni in strengthening the institution and sharing the association's vision for future initiatives.

The event was formally inaugurated by Rev. Dr. Jose Thanickal CMI, Principal, Carmel HSS, Chalakudy. In his inspiring inaugural address, he encouraged the alumni to remain actively connected with their alma mater and continue contributing to the academic and institutional growth of Jesus Training College. As a gesture of gratitude, the chief guest was honoured with a token of love by the JEES Alumni Association. The Valentine’s Day celebrations 2025 at Jesus Training College Mala, organized in association with Anmahera Union 2025, concluded on a joyful and memorable note with two vibrant events — the Pick-Up Line Competition and the Duet Song Competition. The pick-up line contest witnessed enthusiastic participation, with students submitting creative, witty, and heartwarming lines that filled the campus with laughter and cheer. 

Adding melody to the celebration, the Duet Song Competition featured four talented groups who captivated the audience with their harmonious performances and stage presence. The events were judged by Sneha Menon P., Assistant Professor of Maths Education, Jesus Training College Mala, and Elsa Maria Davis, Assistant Professor of General Education, Jesus Training College Mala, whose thoughtful evaluation ensured a fair and encouraging atmosphere. At the end of the program, first, second, and third prizes were distributed to the deserving winners, making the celebration a beautiful blend of creativity, music, and togetherness.

The Women's Club of Jesus Training College, Mala organized a Women's Club Quiz Competition on 6th February 2026 at the Assembly Hall with the objective of promoting awareness, intellectual engagement, and women's empowerment among student teachers. The programme provided a vibrant platform for participants to enhance their knowledge while celebrating the achievements, rights, and contributions of women in various fields.

The quiz competition covered a wide range of topics, including women's history, health, education, science and technology, literature, sports, social reforms, constitutional rights, current affairs, and notable women leaders from India and around the world. The event encouraged students to remain informed about issues related to gender equality and the role of women in nation-building.

Students enthusiastically participated in the competition, demonstrating remarkable teamwork, critical thinking, and quick decision-making skills. The lively rounds of the quiz created an atmosphere of healthy competition while inspiring participants to broaden their knowledge beyond the classroom. Faculty members and fellow students actively supported and encouraged the participants, making the programme both engaging and educational.

The programme was conducted by the Placement Cell of Jesus Training College (JTC) in collaboration with School Connect – Job Portal for Teachers, aiming to guide and equip future educators with meaningful career opportunities. The session began with a warm welcome address by Annmariya K P, followed by an insightful expert session by Mr. Ragesh C., Career Adviser from School Connect, who shared valuable guidance on career pathways, job portal registration, and professional readiness. The event also featured student registration on the job portal and a mock interview session, providing practical exposure and confidence-building experience for aspiring teachers. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Shary C.S., marking the event as a productive and empowering initiative that strengthened the career prospects of the students.

The inauguration brought together students, faculty members, and distinguished guests to celebrate the vibrant spirit of fine arts and the importance of creativity in education.

The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Rages John, Principal, who emphasized the role of arts in fostering innovation, self-expression, and holistic development among future educators. This was followed by the presidential address delivered by Rev. Fr. Vinish V. Vattoly, Executive Director, who highlighted the significance of cultural activities in nurturing confidence, teamwork, and the overall personality of students.

The Arts Day was formally inaugurated by Mr. Sarath Krishnan and Geethamma, whose inspiring words encouraged students to embrace art as a powerful medium of expression, cultural preservation, and social transformation. Ms. Sheena Bhaskar, Vice Principal and Arts Coordinator, felicitated the gathering and appreciated the enthusiasm, dedication, and creative talents of the student community in making the event a grand celebration.

Resume Writing Skills: A Gateway to Career Opportunities

A Workshop on Resume Building for Enhanced Employability was organized by the Placement Cell on 04 February 2026 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. at the College Auditorium, Jesus Training College, Mala. The session was conducted by Dr. Rages John with the objective of developing students’ skills in preparing effective and professional resumes for better career opportunities.

The workshop focused on the essential components of a well-structured resume, including personal profile, educational qualifications, teaching skills, achievements, certifications, internships, and professional experiences. The resource person guided students on how to highlight their strengths, present their competencies effectively, and customize resumes according to career requirements. Practical tips on resume formatting, content selection, and avoiding common mistakes were also discussed.

The session helped student teachers understand the importance of a professional resume as a key tool for employability and career advancement. The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where students clarified their doubts and gained valuable insights into creating impactful resumes for future job

 

30th Annual Sports Meet – ATLETICO 2025–26

Jesus Training College, Mala, inaugurated its 30th Annual Sports Meet – ATLETICO 2025–26 on 30 January 2026 with great enthusiasm and sporting spirit.

The event was inaugurated by Mr. Erishiprasad T. V., Sub Inspector of Police, Kaipamangalam, who served as the chief guest. In his inaugural address, he encouraged students to actively participate in sports and emphasized the importance of discipline, perseverance, physical fitness, and teamwork in achieving success both on and off the field.

The Annual Sports Meet featured a variety of track and field events, indoor and outdoor games, and team competitions. Students enthusiastically participated, displaying determination, sportsmanship, and mutual respect throughout the competitions.

The programme fostered unity, healthy competition, and holistic development among students, making ATLETICO 2025–26 a memorable celebration of athletic excellence and teamwork.

The Electoral Literacy Club of Jesus Training College, Mala, observed National Voters Day on 27 January 2026 in the Assembly Hall to promote awareness about the importance of electoral participation and responsible citizenship.

The programme featured a talk by Ms. Mariya Thankachan, First Year Social Science student, who highlighted the significance of voting as a fundamental democratic right and responsibility. She emphasized the importance of ethical voting, informed decision-making, and active citizen participation in strengthening democracy.

Students actively participated in the programme, reflecting on the constitutional values that uphold free and fair elections. The session encouraged young voters to understand the electoral process and recognize their role in shaping the nation's future.

✏️ Pencil Drawing Competition

The first event of the day was the Pencil Drawing Competition, held from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm at the Library. The calm and inspiring atmosphere of the venue perfectly complemented the creative process. Participants showcased impressive sketching skills, translating imagination into detailed pencil art. From intricate shading to expressive concepts, the competition reflected the artistic depth and dedication of the students.
