Date: 16 September 2025
Organized by: Kosmos Science Club
Institution: Jesus Training College, Mala

"From science to global action: Preserving Our Ozone, Protecting Our Future."

In observance of World Ozone Day, the Kosmos Science Club of Jesus Training College, Mala organized a meaningful awareness programme on 16 September 2025, emphasizing the vital role of the ozone layer in sustaining life on Earth. The event served as a reminder that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility and that collective action is essential to safeguard our planet for future generations.

The programme highlighted the significance of World Ozone Day, commemorated annually to mark the adoption of the Montreal Protocol, an international agreement that has played a crucial role in protecting the Earth's ozone layer. Through this initiative, the Science Club encouraged students to understand the scientific importance of the ozone layer and recognize the positive impact of global cooperation in addressing environmental challenges.

The central theme of the event, "From Science to Global Action: Preserving Our Ozone, Protecting Our Future," reflected the need to translate scientific knowledge into responsible environmental practices. Students were encouraged to adopt eco-friendly lifestyles by reducing pollution, conserving natural resources, promoting sustainable habits, and spreading awareness about environmental protection within their communities.

The programme also focused on inspiring future educators to become environmental ambassadors. As teachers shape the values and attitudes of future generations, the event emphasized the importance of integrating environmental education into classroom practices and motivating young learners to become responsible stewards of nature.

The colourful and thought-provoking programme reinforced the message that protecting the ozone layer is not merely an environmental concern but a global commitment toward ensuring a healthier and safer planet. It reminded participants that small actions—such as reducing harmful emissions, planting trees, conserving energy, and promoting sustainable living—can collectively create a significant positive impact on the environment.

The World Ozone Day celebration concluded with renewed enthusiasm among students to actively participate in environmental conservation initiatives and to contribute towards building a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future.

The programme reflected the vision of Jesus Training College, Mala, to nurture socially responsible educators who combine scientific understanding with environmental consciousness and community engagement.

"When we protect the ozone layer, we protect the Earth. And when we protect the Earth, we safeguard the future of all living beings."
